Course Outline
We pride ourselves on being able to provide high-quality, up-to-date hospitality training and learning materials to our students. Our SIT20316 Certificate II in Hospitality is assessed through mixed-mode assessment. However, the majority of the training is based on face-to-face classroom delivery.
Delivery Arrangements
The majority of the training is based on face-to-face classroom delivery at our Docklands Campus and practical classes will be operating at our Altona premises. This course consists of interactive classroom teaching, activities and tutorials, practical classes and inclusion of a work placement. The minimum face-to-face delivery is 20 hours per week and may include weekday, evening and weekend time tables. Students will be required to complete 12 service periods of Work Placement. In context, 1 service periods amount to 4 hours of work.

Course Description
Certificate II in Hospitality is a course which provides knowledge and skills to the students so that they became capable of working in hospitality-based organizations. Specific and limited range of skills is taught to the students. The major focus of the course remains on Involve the students in routine and repetitive tasks using practical skills and basic industry knowledge. After finishing the course, the students will be able to know both basic and major sectors of Hospitality and its use in the organization.
This course allows the students to gain knowledge and skills over Hospitality as well as creates work facilities on organizations like Hotel, Motel, Restaurants, Café, Catering operations and Coffee shop.

Admission Requirement
- Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of commencement.
Academic Requirement
- Australian Year 10 or equivalent
Note: Mature age students without the minimum education requirements may demonstrate their suitability through relevant work experience or an interview.
For students that do not have English as their first language, they will need to provide
- Certificate II in EAL or
- IELTS overall band score of 4.5 or equivalent
Students may be required to demonstrate their Language competency through an interview or a written test in the absence of formal certification. Mature age students may also be asked to undertake this test.

- 2 units from Group B, elsewhere in the SIT Training Package, or any other current
- Training Package or accredited course
